Lisa Calls Public Meeting to Discuss Development Plans

There was standing room only as residents from Kitt Green and Orrell met to discuss proposals to develop green belt land at The Bell.

Wigan MP Lisa Nandy and Makerfield MP Yvonne Fovargue called the meeting after new proposals were published to build on the land, despite previously having to run a campaign beating away developers just five years ago.

The meeting was held at St Francis of Assisi Church and was hosted by Rev Denise Hayes with local councillors also in attendance. Speaking after the meeting, Lisa said: “It was powerful to see so many people turn out determined to make their voices heard. Only five years ago, we fought a campaign to secure The Bell as part of the green belt and yet here we are again having to fight the same battle. It is crucial that people register their objections before the 23rd December. Anyone who wants further information can contact my office on 01942 242 047 and we will be happy to help.”

People can register their objections on this website: http://gmsf-consult.objective.co.uk/common/register.jsp?type=consultee

Alternatively, residents can email objections to: gmsf@agma.gov.uk

Finally, the postal address which you can also register objections at is:
