Lisa Secures Urgent Question on Abuse Inquiry

Wigan MP Lisa Nandy secured an urgent question on the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse yesterday. In an unusual move, the Home Secretary sent a Junior Minister to answer questions on her behalf.

Speaking about the exchange, Lisa said: “I was sorry that the Home Secretary didn’t attend to answer questions and sent a junior minister instead. The inquiry is too important to fail but it has lost three chairs and 7 senior lawyers since it was set up and now survivors groups are starting to withdraw from the process. The Government must now stop hiding behind the smokescreen of independence and get a grip on it.”
