St John Rigby Students Judge Annual Christmas Card Competition

Wigan MP Lisa Nandy enlisted the help of students from St John Rigby College to choose a winner from hundreds of entries in an annual Christmas card competition.

Young people from primary schools across Wigan entered the competition to design a Christmas card which will be sent to local charities, businesses and community groups.

The judging panel consisted of students from a range of subjects with Olivia Smith, Erin Maltman, Kayleigh Sorrell, Abbie Bayley, Chris Forshaw and Liam Need choosing this year’s winner and runner-up. The event was photographed by another St John Rigby student, Holly McMahon.

Lisa said: “As always it was a very difficult decision as we had hundreds of brilliant entries from children across Wigan. It was great to have help from some of Wigan’s best students to pick a winner. The passion and commitment of the students is clear to see and they were a real credit to the hard working staff at the college.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all of the students and staff at St John Rigby, and of course to all of the children who entered.”

The winner and runner-up of the competition will be presented with a prize at a special ceremony in the Mayor’s Parlour, Wigan Town Hall on the 16th December.
