Wigan MP Lisa Nandy Promoted to Olympic Role in Labour’s Shadow Team

The recently elected MP for Wigan , Lisa Nandy has been given an exciting new job in the Shadow Government as part of the Department for Culture, Media and Sports.

Lisa Nandy will serve as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Cabinet Minister for the Olympics, Tessa Jowell, in a role that will oversee and shape the way in which the Olympics are brought to the UK .

Lisa said:

“I am delighted to have been offered this role as part of Ed Miliband’s shadow team. 

I feel very strongly that the Olympics should not only bring economic and social benefit to London , but must also benefit sporting towns like Wigan .  This job will provide me with a perfect platform to ensure that people of Wigan and across the North West are represented as fully as possible in the Olympic programme.”
